Game Plan

Steps

Step 1: Conduct: My goal is to first reach out to as many women on the metro, as possible and have them conduct a Survey, on the routes they take, their timings, and whether they travel in groups or not! (PDF Attached)

Step 2: Educate: My next goal will be to conduct workshops where I will inform large groups of women about how ME-TRO will work, and how they can benefit from the scheme. I believe awareness is key, and also half the battle won!

Safety

  • Be sensitive of the time, locality, people, and purpose where you maybe

  • Book pre-paid transport from reliable sources

  • Travel in groups when commuting late night

  • Own pepper spray and carry it with you at all times

  • Enroll in a self-defense class

  • Download safety apps on your smartphone

  • Make sure you have emergency contacts on your phone

  • Use the GPS or do your ground work when going to a new address

  • Consciously avoid secluded, ill-lit and deserted roads

Goals

I am also in talks to tie up with the Samarpan Foundation. They train female drivers to drive autos and taxis available at the Huda City Center Metro Station. My aim is to make shared and single rider autos available for women passengers who are leaving the Metro Station at specific rush hour timings (mornings and evenings), and feel free of any harassments or unsafe counters in their transit from “station to destination”. I will make sure the taxis, autos and rickshaws that sign up with ME-TRO are recognisable with a special ME-TRO sticker on on the front-end of the vehicle, in addition to allocating a specific pick up zone with another ME-TRO sign put in place.

Feminism isn’t about making women stronger. Women are already strong. It’s about changing the way the world perceives their strength.
